Nasional Montessori’s approach to educating young minds emphasizes independence. It is our goal to make the child independent and be able to do things for himself. It is achieved by giving them opportunities. Thus, in Nasional Montessori, we give the children opportunities to move about, to dress by themselves, to choose what they want to do (in matters where they are safe in doing so) and to help with adult tasks. When the children are able to do things for themselves, there is an increase in self-belief, self-confidence, and esteem that they may carry on through-out their lives. When they possess this inner discipline until their adult years, they become major players in the society where they belong. They don’t just follow…they lead. Children are given freedom and choice. At an early age, they are guided to choose and work on materials that will answer their needs at that moment. They are guided to make the right choices. Moreover, teachers feed their inquiring minds in a way that they can understand. Fulfilling their needs is the key to help young children to develop their full potential..
